Tallahassee Community College gives back during annual TCC Day

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (July 14, 2016) – In 1989, then-Florida Governor Bob Martinez declared July 13 as TCC Day. This year, Tallahassee Community College faculty, staff and students celebrated TCC Day by volunteering their time and service throughout the community.

About 50 volunteers spread out to different sites in the tri-county service area on Wednesday. Volunteer groups cleaned up a local playground with Kids Incorporated of the Big Bend, sorted donations and assisted visitors at Goodwill, collected laundry detergent and sorted toiletry items for the Kearney Center, organized shelves and assisted with a children’s ice cream social at the Quincy Public Library, and walked dogs at the Wakulla County Animal Shelter.

As part of the College’s 50th anniversary, TCC has committed to 50,000 hours of community service hours in 2016.

The College will thank TCC Day volunteers by hosting a campus-wide ice cream social on Thursday, July 14, from noon to 2 p.m. in the Student Union. All students, faculty and staff are welcome to attend.
